Here at R.M. Sellergren & Associates, we are committed to all of our employees performing their job in the safest possible manner, from the field apprentice all the way up to each officer in the company. Safety is an attitude that promotes injury free jobsites and we all take our program very seriously not only for the sake of our business, but the well being of our employees.
All Superintendents are 40-hour OSHA Certified and our foreman have gone through the 10-hour certification course. R.M. Sellergren partners up with our workers’ compensation carrier, insurance broker and our union affiliates to promote certifications, jobsite inspections and an internal safety council consisting of Superintendent(s), Foreman(s), Field Worker(s), and an Officer of the company that will meet quarterly to discuss what we are doing and what we can do better.
R.M. Sellergren moved Junior Cortez into a position of Safety Director along with Al Cosentino being Managing Director. Junior is bilingual which was an important factor in the position, communication is extremely important in our industry and we will not compromise that for safety. They implement and maintain the new employee hire program, Hascom program, Monday morning toolbox talks, injury reporting and investigation among others. They provide medical personnel with a descriptive light duty schedule for injured employees to return to work on an individual basis.
As should be the case, with our aggressive safety program in place, we have experienced a steady decline of injuries and our modification rate has been consistently under the average of 1.00. This makes our insurance company happy, therefore lowering our premiums, resulting in more competitive bidding. R.M. Sellergren strongly promotes injury free work sites and will continue to keep safety as a top priority for our business.
